When you’re
a student a lot of the times you’re living with a group of other students. No
one has money to throw away and when you’re in school every penny counts. One
way to save money would be to have dinner together once or a couple of times a
week. When you’re cooking for yourself the cost per person will often be higher
than when you’re cooking for 3-4 persons.TIP! – Don’t have roommates? Get some friends together who live on their own and eat together at someone else’s place every week to save money.
You can also save on groceries by going to less expensive supermarkets. Don’t try to save money on fruit and vegetable and bread, these are vital parts of your diet. Instead, try to save money on processed foods like pre-made microwave meals, sweets, chips and soda’s. When buying bread you can buy half a loaf but this costs more than buying a whole loaf! Instead buy a whole loaf but keep half of it in the freezer until you’ve finished the first half. As we’ve said before, it’s cheaper to buy big packs instead of single packs. For example, buy big packs of stuff that has a long shelf life like dried pasta’s, rice and frozen vegetables. If you live alone you can make double meals and reheat the rest the next day. Don’t reheat the same meal too often; it can go bad really fast.
Keep an eye out for good deals at the supermarket. Check out the latest deals online before going shopping so you can determine what to get beforehand.
TIP! – Buy food
on a full stomache. You’ll be less tempted to buy stuff you don’t actually
need.
